Head of a figurine of Dionysus. Head of a young man with a face devoid of [expression?], wide compact mouth, triangularly outlined face with carved cheeks, large eyes, a prominent nose and gently outlined eyebrows. The youth wears a diadem decorated with rosettes on the sides and a thick wreath. Traces of red paint (cinnabar) on the hair, lips and diadem; blue in the rosettes (in the recesses) and on the vertebrae. 5th–4th century BC, Taranto, Southern Italy (Italy). Terracotta figurine, height 8.7 cm, width 8.3 cm, depth 6.3 cm, weight 0.28 kg.
