Crucifixion Polyptych - lower left wing, left panel - obverse: The Kiss of Judas (the capture); reverse: Ruben with his brothers. The Kiss of Judas: The scene takes place against a landscape with two rocky hills. Foreground events concentrate around the central group of Christ and Judas embracing. To the left, Saint Peter holds a sword and grabs a soldier by the nose; Malchus sits on the ground with a bleeding ear and is healed by Christ touching him with an outstretched hand. Reverse: Ruben with his brothers: In the foreground three men in shepherd's garb—short robes and hoods or hats—carry staffs. The man on the right, Reuben, wipes tears with his right hand, looking at his brother on the left; the central brother watches Reuben. Behind them, merchants lead Joseph, emerging from behind rocks. Background shows a hilly landscape with three trees. The brothers present Jacob with Joseph's bloody clothes: Old Jacob sits in the open porch of the house; two sons stand before him, one kneeling and displaying the bloody robe, the other bending and removing his hat. The painting is in shades of gray, with a yellow garment on one brother and a gold fabric hanging behind Jacob prominent. c. 1500, Antwerp. Altarpiece, height 145.5 cm, width 72 cm.
