S. Franc. Sales. (Saint Francis de Sales). Czerski, Stanislaw (1777–1833), graphic artist. The image depicts Saint Francis de Sales. The composition is enclosed in an oval in a double linear frame, with a double rectangular linear frame along the edge of the plate. The engraving was made by Father Stanislaw Czerski in Salanty in Samogitia. As a parish priest, with the help of a young assistant he adopted, he devoted himself to engraving images of saints with Samogitian inscriptions: because he only engraved these images for his parishioners, who, as inhabitants of pure Samogitia, do not know any other language. The above-mentioned plates, together with the press and all the tools for imprinting them, were transferred to Vilnius after his death. 1822–1832. Graphic; graphic matrix; graphic plate.
