S. Apolonia (Saint Apolonia), Czerski, Stanislaw (1777–1833), draughtsman. Apolonia (Saint; ?–249), devotional depiction, saint shown bust-length holding tongs with an extracted tooth; flames to her right; martyr's palms; halo. Composition in an oval within a double linear frame, the whole within a rectangular linear frame along the plate edge. Engraving made by Father Stanislaw Czerski in Salanty in Samogitia. As a parish priest, with the help of a young assistant he engraved images of saints with Samogitian inscriptions for his parishioners; the plates, press and tools were transferred to Vilnius after his death. 1822–1832.
