View of Czech Prague taken from Petrín Hill, which occupies a vast area full of gardens and parks, situated on the left bank of the Vltava River in Prague, in the vicinity of Prague Castle. Visible on the edge of the hill on the left is the Hunger Wall built on the order of Charles IV in the 14th century; legend has it that it was built to provide work and income to the unemployed, but Charles IV intended to expand the Malá Strana district. The composition is enclosed in a decorative frame made of parallel rods entwined in the corners with blooming morning glory. At the bottom, a ribbon with an inscription. 1840–1850.
