Benedictine Church in Minsk; Church of St. Adalbert and the Benedictine Monastery in Minsk (Belarus), Roman Catholic monastery complex founded in the first half of the 17th century, seized after the January Uprising and converted to Orthodox use in 1871; buildings no longer exist. Oldest photograph of the church dates from 1870, showing the church a year before conversion. Moniuszko's first known work: view of the Moniuszko family burial chapel (1870) near Minsk; he may have drawn this Minsk church around the same time. Toeplitz; returned to Warsaw in 1880; met Boczkowska in St. Petersburg. Boczkowska, Maria Celestyna (Maria Celina) (1840–1931), illustrator; drawing, album; probably copied the drawing for her album; drawing shows amateur clumsiness; dated 1870–1873; St. Petersburg; height 15.8 cm, width 21.1 cm.
