Offering the Crown of Sidon to Abdalonymos, Norblin de la Gourdaine, Jean Pierre (1745–1830), graphic artist; Witke-Jezewski, Dominik (1862–1944) (associated). Subject: presentation of a crown to Abdalonymos (fl. 332–312 BC). Date: 1776. Medium: etching with aquatint; print from a graphic plate (graphic matrix). Technique/details: etching with fragments etched with aquatint, main drawing reinforced with a stylus; plate toned by the author before printing. Known states: multiple states with minor differences; final state (state III) shows refined leaves in background, traces of a stylus, halberd heads appearing at left and deeper stylus marks (tree trunks on right). Earlier state I shows a woman by the well raising her right hand; state II shows that hand rubbed with a smoothing pen. Measurements: height 9.0 cm, width 7.1 cm, thickness 0.1 cm.
