Lithuanian grosz, Sigismund I the Old (King of Poland; 1506–1548). Obverse: Polish crowned eagle; rim between pearl-shaped borders with inscription 'SIGISMVN, X.PO.MDLITV.' Reverse: Pogon (Lithuanian coat of arms) turned left, below the year 1536; rim between pearl-shaped borders with inscription divided at the bottom by the Columns of Gediminas: 'MONETA.MAGN - I.DVCA.LITV.' 1536. Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Vilnius. Coin (Polish-Lithuanian), Jagiellon dynasty; coats of arms present. Diameter ca. 25.6–26.1 mm; weight 2.29 g. Rarity: R8., A circular metallic coin with a worn surface showing a raised rim and a central round field; the metal appears silver-gray with patches of darker gray and slight brownish tarnish. In the center there is a faint raised motif of a heraldic shield flanked by two stylized animals, all in the same silver-gray tone and showing wear; a few small reddish marks are visible on top of the central motif. Around the central field there is a raised border and a band with raised decorative elements and letter-like shapes, all in silver-gray with darker recesses; the outer edge of the coin shows unevenness and slight discoloration in gray and brown tones. The overall appearance is of an aged silver-gray object with areas of darker gray, brown, and a few red spots.
