Red-figure Hydria, Amycus Painter (c. 420–410 BC), author. Red-figure hydria on a high, profiled foot. The belly of the vase widens evenly toward broad, slightly sloping shoulders, from which rises a neck terminating in a wide, profiled rim. The neck is decorated with an ovoid at the base, above which is an ornament in the form of a band of leaves; the ovoid also surrounds the edge of the vessel's rim. The figurative representation is on the front of the vessel, on the belly and shoulders, above a band with a meander ornament. In the center is a naked youth seated on a rock. A male figure, shown in profile, turns back, leaning against a rock with his right hand; his left hand rests on his left knee. The youth is slender with clearly defined muscles. He is flanked by two female figures in lavish robes.
