Warsaw. The Saxon Garden in Winter, Brandel, Konrad 1838–1920 photographer, ca. 1885, photography, photographic print glued across the entire surface to cardboard; print: 21 × 27.3 cm, support: 31.8 × 43.8 cm. Subjects: Warsaw Masovian Voivodeship, Saxon Garden, Saxon Palace, gardens, parks, winter, snow., A wide, snowy path runs toward a distant large building framed by rows of tall trees on both sides, their bare branches and twigs coated with frost. The ground is covered in snow with uneven footprints and drifts along the edges. Trees with dark trunks create vertical contrasts against the pale snow and sky, and some leaning branches arch over the path. The scene is dominated by muted tones of white, off-white, beige, light gray, and dark brown.
