Feston: Quellinus, Artus 1609–1668, engraver; Baroque; doves, apples, festoons, garlands, rushes, fruits; ornament designs, decoration patterns; Netherlandish; engraving slightly cut or torn at lower edge; ca. 1650, Amsterdam ; album; 9.9 × 21.8 cm, A horizontal monochrome drawing on a light beige background shows a central decorative garland made of flowing ribbonlike strands and a group of feathers or leaves, with a stylized bird figure perched in the middle and flanked by curved strands and beadlike clusters; the garland extends toward each side where it ties into a knot from which a cluster of round fruit and leaves hangs, mirrored on left and right. The visible colors are shades of beige, off-white, and dark brown ink.
