The Capture copy of an engraving from the Little Passion by Albrecht Dürer, unknown graphic artist; attributed to Albrecht Dürer 1471–1528 according to, restitution provenance, Passion iconography, The Capture of Christ iconography, German, graphic art; height 12.8 cm, width 9.8 cm, A detailed black-and-white engraving shows a crowded scene of several men wearing varied armor and robes, many holding spears and shields; one central bearded man with long hair is being grasped and kissed by another man while surrounding figures press in. In the foreground a bearded figure in a flowing robe raises an arm as another man lies on the ground clutching a cylindrical object; nearby a fallen figure is curled on the ground. The figures’ clothing and armor include helmets, chainmail, scale-like armor, cloaks, and layered garments. The background contains tree trunks and foliage, and a few long poles or spears rise behind the group. The image tones are monochrome with shades of black, gray, and off-white.
