Subject: Warcislaw II of Gdansk ca. 1237–1271 and Salomea daughter of Ziemowit, Duke of Masovia. Copy from a painting; portraits, princes, German painting, 12th century iconographic reference. Drawing glued across the entire surface onto paper of similar dimensions, which is glued with the upper edge onto cardboard. Dimensions: drawing height 11.8 cm, width 16.5 cm; backing height 13.4 cm, width 16.5 cm; cardboard height 35.8 cm, width 25.8 cm. Creator draughtsman: Alexander Lesser Aleksander Lesser 1814–1884., A watercolor illustration shows a bearded man and a woman standing behind a low wall. The man wears a red cloak with gray fur trim, a red hat with a brown fur band, and holds a sword while pointing with his other hand; his hair and beard are dark brown and his skin is light. The woman wears a yellow gown with puffed sleeves and a blue bodice, a patterned headwrap, and a necklace; she rests one hand on a large pale shield and the other on the wall, her skin is light and her hair is dark. The background is a plain beige wash and the image is bordered by a thin dark line.
