Subject: Wladyslaw IV Vasa King of Poland; 1595–1648 — iconography, portrait of a ruler, male portrait, copy from an engraving. Medium and support: drawing on tracing paper glued across its entire surface to paper of similar dimensions, which is glued with its upper edge to cardboard. Date range: 1830–1884. Technique/type: drawing, tracing. Dimensions: cardboard height 28.8 cm, width 20.3 cm; overall cardboard: height 34.4 cm, width 24.8 cm. Place of origin: unknown., A sepia-toned portrait drawing of a man shown from the chest up within an oval frame, featuring light tan, brown, and dark brown shading; he has shoulder-length wavy hair, a moustache and pointed goatee, and a high forehead with short bangs; he wears a large lace collar with intricate floral patterns and a decorated garment with visible straps, medallions, and a draped sash; the background inside the oval is dark brown while the outer border is lighter tan, and the paper shows aged tan discoloration and darker smudges.
