Portrait of King Sigismund III Vasa in a crown, mantle and with royal insignia; drawn by Aleksander Lesser 1814–1884. Depicts Sigismund III Vasa King of Poland; 1566–1632 — iconography: kings, portraits of rulers, male portrait. Drawing on tracing paper, glued with the entire surface to paper of similar dimensions, which is glued by the upper edge to cardboard. Dated 1830–1884. Drawing tracing: height 16.1 cm, width 8.6 cm; support: height 16.8 cm, width 9.4 cm; cardboard: height 35.8 cm, width 25.9 cm., A standing figure dressed in ornate royal garments and armor is shown in a tall portrait orientation. The figure wears a decorated crown and a ruffled collar, and a long patterned cloak drapes over the shoulders down to the floor. The figure holds a long scepter in one hand and a round orb with a cross in the other. The armor includes a breastplate, gauntlets, thigh and knee guards, and greaves, with visible decorative detailing. The face has a moustache and goatee, and the head is tilted slightly. Behind the figure there are heavy drapery curtains with scalloped edging. The floor appears to be tiled. The visible colors are shades of beige and brown from the paper and ink lines, with accents of a muted pinkish-red along the border.
