Genealogy of the De Vaux and Lanckoronski families; Ernst Krahl 1858–1926, painter; 1889, Vienna; watercolor drawing; 75 × 103.5 cm. Subjects: genealogy, allegories, heraldry, coats of arms, female and male portraits., A framed decorative chart with a wide dark brown wooden frame surrounds a cream-colored background filled with ornate painted elements; along the top edge there is a row of several colorful heraldic shields and crests in red, blue, gold, and green. Beneath and across the composition are a few scroll-like banners and many flowing acanthus-style foliage motifs in pale green, muted gray, and soft pink. Scattered through the foliage are a group of small oval portraits of people rendered with realistic skin tones, dark and light hair, and clothing in subdued blues, browns, and creams. At the lower center is an elaborate central coat of arms with metallic gold detailing, deep blue and green fields, and red accents, flanked by two seated allegorical female figures wearing robes in yellow and orange, each accompanied by a small child with light skin. The overall palette includes cream, gold, blue, green, red, brown, pale pink, and gray, and the image shows delicate ornamental flourishes and symmetrical decorative arrangements throughout.
