Denarius, Alexander Severus 208–235; Roman emperor 222–235; obverse: portrait and ruler titles; reverse: Roman deity Mars iconography; Roman Empire, Rome; coin; diameter 18.0–18.5 mm; weight 2.90 g, A round, worn metallic object with a rough, uneven edge showing a raised design of a standing human figure facing sideways; the figure appears to wear a short skirt or tunic and holds an object in one hand while the other arm is extended, and there is a suggestion of a staff or long object behind the figure. The surface shows areas of darker tarnish and spots, with the metal appearing primarily gray and silver with some darker gray and brownish discoloration.
