Sestertius of Lucius Verus 130–169; Roman emperor 161–169. Obverse: Head of Lucius Verus in laurel wreath facing right, legend LAVREL VERVS AVG Armeniacus all around. Reverse: Mars walking right, holding a spear in his right hand and a trophy in his left, legend TRP IIII – IMP II COS II with control letters S–C in fields. Date: 163–164. Rome, Roman Empire. Bronze coin; diameter 30.5–31.5 mm, weight 20.75 g, axis 345°., A dark round object with an irregular edge shows a raised profile of a person's head facing right; the head has textured hair and a beard. The surface is worn and uneven with areas of smooth sheen and rough patches. A small stylized plant-like shape appears near the lower left of the profile. The visible colors are dark gray and black with hints of lighter gray.
