Sestertius of Julia Mamaea and Alexander Severus, 225–235 CE. Bronze coin diam. ~29–30 mm, weight 23.5 g. Obverse: Julia Mamaea ca. 180–235 and titles; issuer Alexander Severus 208–235, Roman emperor 222–235. Reverse: personification Felicitas. Roman Empire; Rome mint., A dark, round coin with an aged, textured surface showing a raised profile of a person facing right; the coin appears mostly dark brown and black with some lighter brown highlights and subtle reddish-brown spots; the rim is slightly irregular and the portrait shows hair detail and the suggestion of shoulders against a plain background.
