Denarius, Roman deities. Alexander Severus Roman emperor; 222–235. Obverse: Bust of Alexander Severus right with laurel wreath and paludamentum, pearl rim. Reverse: Jupiter half-naked seated on a throne facing left, holding Victoria in his outstretched right hand and a spear in his left, pearl rim. Legend: Obv. IMPCMAVRSEVALEXANDAVG; Rev. IOVI VL TORI. Date: 222–228. Place of origin: Rome. Medium: silver coin. Diameter: 17.0–18.0 mm. Weight: 2.90 g., A round metallic object with a worn, dark gray surface and lighter silvery highlights, showing an incised scene of a seated figure wearing draped clothing and a crown or headpiece, the figure facing sideways and holding a curved object in one hand while resting the other on an armrest; the edge of the object is raised and slightly irregular, and the background around it is plain white.
