Denarius of Alexander Severus reigned 222–235. Obverse: Bust of Alexander Severus right, wearing laurel wreath and paludamentum; inscription IMPCMAVRSEVALEXANDAVG. Reverse: Mars in military dress and helmet standing turned left, holding a branch in his right hand and resting his left on a spear; inscription PMTRP III COSPP. Pearl rim. Dated 224. Roman Empire; minted in Rome. Coin, diameter ~18.5–19.5 mm, weight 2.63 g., A worn round metal coin with uneven edges showing the profile of a human head facing right; the surface is textured and shows areas of wear and shallow raised details; the coin appears in shades of gray and dull silver with darker gray patina in crevices and lighter silver highlights on raised areas.
