Carved netsuke depicting Shôki mythology and a demon oni; materials: sculpture/netsuke; height 4.5 cm, width 3.0 cm., A small carved object in warm brown tones stands on a smooth light gray surface against a darker gray background; the carving depicts a stylized figure with a detailed face, long carved beard, and a patterned headband, and there is a second carved face or figure positioned behind and slightly above the first; the surface shows carved grooves and textured lines creating flowing patterns on the body and base, with highlights and shadows emphasizing the polished, slightly glossy finish and darker recessed areas.
