Ink vessel, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 18th–19th century. Painted decoration of lotuses and calligraphy; used as a painting implement. Vessel; height 0.7 cm, width 6.8 cm, depth 4.6 cm., A shallow, irregularly shaped dish with smooth, rounded edges sits on a light surface, appearing to be made of a translucent, glossy material. The dish shows a range of pale colors including off-white, cream, and faint yellowish tones, with subtle veining and slightly darker shadowed areas. A small rounded protrusion rises from the interior surface of the dish, and the dish casts a soft shadow and reflection on the surface beneath it.
