Scroll thangka; height 39 cm, width 28 cm., A worn painted scene on a dark background shows a central large figure seated on an ornate platform surrounded by swirling cloud- and flame-like motifs and a few smaller figures clustered around the base and sides; the palette includes deep blacks and browns, muted reds and maroons, olive and dark greens, dull gold and beige highlights, and touches of blue and purple. The central figure appears dark in color with decorative headgear and layered garments, and there are several smaller humanlike and animal figures in various poses around the platform, some with flowing hair or garments. Decorative borders in red and beige frame the image, and the surface shows many scratches, faded areas, and worn patches that reveal lighter underlying tones. The overall composition is dense and symmetrical with repeated curving lines and ornamental details.
