Vase-shaped stove, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 19th century. Porcelain/ceramic stove shaped like a vase, height 138 cm, width 42 cm, weight 65.5 kg. Decoration includes plants, pines, phoenixes, tigers, lotus throne, gourds, dragons, sages, vipers, warriors, lions; iconography related to Chinese Buddhism, Taoism, and Immortals. Function: stove. Place of origin: China., The image shows a group of three metal objects arranged on a neutral background, all with a dark greenish-brown patina. On the left is a low, round vessel with a wide rim sitting on a short tripod base with bulbous, animal-like legs and carved decorative motifs, the rim and upper surface appearing slightly darker and more worn. In the center is a hexagonal stand with an open circular top and ornate cutout legs, its top surface and sides bearing low-relief decorative panels and the overall color a mottled dark green and brown. On the right is a taller, narrow, hexagonal vessel with a flared, octagonal rim and a stepped base, its shaft and lower panels decorated with raised designs and the surface showing a similar dark greenish-brown patina with areas of lighter green. The background is a smooth, light gray.
