Bridle; maker, Chinese; Qing dynasty 1644–1911; 18th century. Horse tack bridle/riding equipment made of leather ribbon and bronze decorated with cloisonné cellular enamel on copper colorful, blue background. Decoration: fish and floral ornament. Dimensions: height 52.0 cm, width 40.0 cm., An ornate strap assembly with a group of interconnected straps and rings is shown against a plain light gray background; the straps are mostly blue fabric with areas of darker blue and worn texture, and several brass buckles and fittings attach the pieces together. Decorative rectangular metal panels with painted enamel designs in colors including blue, green, red, white, and gold run along portions of the straps, showing repeated patterned motifs. Two circular rings hang from the lower part, one ring plain brass and the other ring decorated with the same multicolored enamel pattern, each connected by small metal links and a twisted dark cord. Small metal fittings and worn leather pieces join the rings and straps, and the overall object displays a mix of blue, green, red, white, gold, brass, and dark brown tones.
