Bit, Chinese; Qing dynasty 1644–1911; cloisonné enamel on copper with leather ribbon and bronze; riding equipment element horse tack decorated with fish and plant ornament; 18th century, China; height 20.0 cm, width 7.0 cm., A decorative harness with blue fabric straps and brass buckles is suspended against a gray background; the harness features enamel panels in a row along the browband and cheekpieces with colorful painted scenes and motifs in colors including blue, green, red, white, and gold; two metal rings hang from the lower fittings, one ring with an enamelled outer edge in similar colors and another plain brass ring, both connected by dark braided cords and small metal links; the fabric shows stitched areas and worn edges, and the metal fittings show patina and small scratches.
