Japanese, Arita, c. 1800–1860. Vessel height 5.5 cm, width 27.6 cm., A decorative round ceramic plate with a scalloped edge resting against a solid gray background, featuring an intricate multicolored pattern; the plate shows a central circular medallion with a repeating geometric motif surrounded by a ring of floral and scrollwork designs in blue, green, gold, and pale yellow, interspersed with several white cartouche-like areas containing blue floral silhouettes, and framed by alternating red, orange, and blue patterned panels around the rim, with accents of light turquoise, beige, and touches of brown.
