Zun vase, Chinese, ceremonial vessel zun, decorated with taotie masks and fantastical beasts, meander and leiwen ornament, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 19th century, China; height 31.7 cm, diameter 19.0 cm, A tall, slender metal vessel with a flared rim and flared base sits against a plain light gray background, showing worn patches and a mottled surface with areas of bright gold and darker brown. The midsection features a raised band with a carved decorative motif encircling it, appearing in the same gold and brown tones with subtle shadowing. The vessel's surface has an aged, textured look with irregular gold leaf-like flecks and darker oxidized spots, and the base reflects faintly on the smooth surface beneath it. The visible colors are gold, brown, dark brown, and light gray.
