Hu-type vessel, Chinese, ceremonial ritual vessel, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 19th century, Chinese origin, hu shape with handles, decorated with fantastical beasts, height 33.5 cm, diameter 27.0 cm., An ornate metal vessel with a wide rounded body, a narrow foot, and a tall flaring neck, showing a mottled surface of dark green, brown, and hints of reddish patina; the vessel is decorated with raised carved bands of repeating abstract motifs and geometric patterns around the neck, shoulder, and foot, and has a pair of small looped handles with attached rings on opposite sides of the neck; the object is photographed against a plain light gray background with a faint reflection visible beneath it.
