Hu-type vase, Chinese, ceremonial ritual vessel with handles and taotie iconography, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 19th century, China; vessel, height 39 cm, width 27.5 cm, diameter 24.5 cm., A single dark metal vase stands against a pale background, showing a rounded body that tapers to a flared neck and sits on a slightly stepped base. The surface of the vase is textured and shows areas of wear and subtle variations in dark gray and black tones with hints of brownish patina. Around the upper portion of the body there is a band of low-relief decorative motifs and a few raised panels with carved designs, and a ring handle set into a small sculpted mount is visible on one side. The overall shape is symmetrical and the lighting creates soft highlights and gentle shadows that emphasize the vessel’s curved profile and detailed surface.
