Gu-type vessel gu cup, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 18th century, ritual/ceremonial vessel, height 15 cm, diameter 10.7 cm., A dark bronze vessel with a wide flared rim tapering into a narrow waist and then expanding into a rounded midsection before narrowing again to a decorated base, standing against a neutral gray gradient background. The surface of the vessel shows intricate raised decorative motifs in repeated swirling patterns and stylized animal or mythical creature figures on the midsection and upper body, with carved vertical panels on the flared portion. The overall color palette is dark brown to nearly black with subtle lighter brown highlights on raised areas, and the background is shades of gray.
