Lion fo, creator unknown, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 17th century, ceramic animal figurine of a fo lion with sea-green glaze, sculpture, height 27 cm., A small sculpted figure of a stylized animal with a curled mane and tail sits on a rectangular base, rendered in a bright turquoise-blue glaze with patches of darker blue-green and small areas where the glaze is worn to reveal a pale underlying material; the animal displays flowing carved ridges along its body and limbs, a pronounced snout and open mouth, rounded ears, and decorative spiral motifs in its mane and fur, while the base shows stepped molding and slight chipping at the edges; the background is a uniform light gray.
