Helmet, Islamic art; Turkish, Ottoman dynasty 1299–1922; militaria headgear. Movable cheekpieces and a nosepiece passing through the browband. Fluted bell. Browband and cheekpieces connected with copper rivets; neckpiece additionally with brass hinges. 16th century, Turkey; weight 1.92 kg; height 39.0 cm; width 37.0 cm; depth 24.0 cm., A metal conical helmet with a pointed finial at the top, showing vertical ribbed texture on the upper sides and a smooth central panel, with a hinged nose guard and a downward curved brim; attached cheek guards hang on either side, each reinforced with a pattern of rounded rivets, and the metal surface shows areas of wear and small patches of brownish discoloration; visible colors include silvery gray metal, brownish spots, and coppery rivets against a neutral pale gray background.
