Japanese, Meiji period 1868–1912, 19th/20th century. Vessel. Height 30.1 cm, diameter 15.6 cm., A bulbous metal vase with a flared rim sits against a neutral gray background, showing a patinated surface in shades of brown, bronze, and muted green; the upper rim area has a band of engraved decorative motifs in a lighter metallic tone, while the body displays etched scenes of grasses and foliage in a silvery metallic color; the base flares outward and is decorated with a repeating geometric pattern in bronze and darker brown, and the vase casts a soft reflection on the surface below.
