Hu-type vessel hu, bronze wine vessel. Japanese; Meiji–Taisho period, 1st half of the 20th century Meiji 1868–1912 / Taisho 1912–1926. Globular body with narrow, rather high neck and conical stem. Decorated with profiled circles around the body; two mascarons form the handles. Light green artificial patina. Height 40.0 cm. Maker: Hôun craftsman; role/classification. Ceremonial/ritual vessel., An aged metal vessel rests on its side against a neutral background, showing a patina of green and brown with areas of darker verdigris and lighter tan; the vessel has a flared, multi-ridged body with a narrowed neck and a rounded handle at the top edge, and the interior shows concentric stepped rings and irregular surface discoloration in shades of green, brown, and muted gold.
