Hu-type vessel hu, Japanese, Bronze wine vessel. 1st half of the 20th century Meiji/Taisho periods, 1868–1926. Globular body with narrow, rather high neck and conical stem. Decorated with profiled circles around the body. Two mascarons serve as handles. Light green artificial patina. Height 40.0 cm. Maker role/classification: Hôun craftsman., An aged metal vessel with a rounded, ribbed body, a flaring neck, and a flared, segmented pedestal base, showing a mottled surface patina in green and brown tones; the body has decorative ringed bands and a pair of small looped handles on opposite sides with short bars through them, and the surface displays areas of darker brown, verdigris green, and lighter green speckling against a neutral gray background.
