Bowl, Deep round bowl on a high, ring-shaped foot. Decorated with underglaze cobalt painting: outside shows a stylized composition of elaborate architecture, a human figure, and mountains, plus an inscription in kanji in four columns. Interior undecorated, with a symbol carved into the glaze at the bottom. Base bears a signature: Chenghua nian zhi—an imitation of a Chinese Ming Dynasty Chenghua mark. Bluish-tinted glaze from cobalt; rim secured with a narrow brass ring. Edo period 1603–1868; possibly 2nd half of 17th century. Japanese; ceramics, figurative scenes. Vessel height 8.3 cm, diameter 17.7 cm., A small ceramic bowl sits on a reflective surface, showing a mirrored image below. The bowl is primarily white with blue painted decorative patterns around its exterior and a thin gold-colored rim at the top. The interior appears white, and the exterior blue decoration includes a mix of curved and linear motifs. The background is a uniform gray.
