Popular motif in Chinese geomancy — symbol of a three-legged frog toad bringing money wealth. 19th century, Burma Myanmar. Burmese art; ceremonial vessel; incense burner. Motifs: frogs, coins, tiger; symbols of wealth and luck. Height 20.0 cm; width 32.0 cm; depth 21.0 cm., A metallic sculptural object shaped like a squat creature with a rounded body, short legs, and a wide mouth is shown from the front; the surface appears largely brass-colored with areas of darker patina and hints of reddish-brown on the eyes and some worn spots. The creature has stylized facial features including prominent brows, circular eyes set into carved sockets, a small raised nose area with visible nostril openings, and a horizontal mouth opening with a suggestion of teeth. A small ornamental figure sits atop the creature’s head. The legs end in flattened, webbed-looking feet that rest on a pale, neutral background that transitions from light gray at the top to white near the bottom.
