Tsuba for a tachi sword. Quatrefoil shape mokkô gata with a slightly raised edge of the uchi kaeshi / ryôhitsu ana type. Decorated on the obverse with wild geese flying over a water's edge overgrown with reeds; on the reverse, sails of three boats at the top and fishing nets drying on the shore below. Gold-inlaid details. Signed. Early 19th century Edo period. Fushimi, Yamashiro province, Japan. Tsuba; height 10.9 cm, width 10.2 cm, depth 0.45 cm., A flat, rounded metallic object with an irregular flower-like outline rests against a neutral gray background; the metal surface is dark brown with mottled rust tones and small patches of lighter brown and faint golden flecks, and it has a few rounded cutouts and an elongated horizontal opening near the center, along with subtle raised and recessed areas indicating shallow decorative grooves.
