Round tsuba tatemaru gata, with one side hole katahitsu ana, massive rectangular edge kaku mimi closing an openwork positive composition depicting a spreading pine tree with bamboo growing from its thick trunk, marked with a few leaves. Seppa dai oval; the kozuka hitsu ana hole is woven into the decorative motif, although clearly visible. Signed. 1st half of the 19th century Edo period, Japan. Tsuba; height 7.75 cm, width 7.4 cm, thickness 0.5 cm., A round dark brown metal object with an openwork design showing carved floral and organic shapes, a central oval opening, and a smaller round hole, set against a uniform light gray background; the metal shows areas of lighter brown and subtle darker patina.
