Vase with two handles, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 19th century. Porcelain fragment with white transparent glaze; decoration painted with overglaze enamel paints and iron red. Subjects: lion iconography, figural scenes, images of women. Colored porcelain. Inscriptions. Vessel, height 28.5 cm, width 15.2 cm, depth 11.5 cm, weight 1.75 kg., A square-topped porcelain vessel with flared rim and a pale gold trim sits against a neutral gray background, showing a glossy white surface decorated with painted figures and calligraphic bands. One visible side features a standing woman in traditional garb with garments in red, green, blue, and yellow, accented with black hair and pale skin tones, standing on stylized cloud motifs in pink, blue, and yellow. An adjacent side shows a seated figure in robes primarily purple, blue, and yellow with red and green accents, also positioned on colorful cloud-like forms and a patterned base. Another face includes a small sculpted red lion head with a gold ring set into the porcelain. Several vertical panels of black brushwork appear near the top of multiple faces. The vessel casts a subtle reflection on the glossy surface below.
