Belt clasp. Stem: lizard-dragon on a peony branch. Underside knob in the shape of a five-petaled flower rosette. Mossy chalcedony, openwork stem. Chinese, Qing dynasty 18th–19th century. Materials: chalcedony? Dimensions: height 2.8 cm; width 11.0 cm; depth 3.8 cm. Iconography: dragons, plant ornament., A pale carved object with smooth, curved forms rests on a light surface; the object shows shades of white, off-white, gray, and small areas of yellowish-brown discoloration, with a few darker gray speckles. The carving includes rounded, flowing shapes and a hooked end, with a group of overlapping, petal-like or leaf-like carved elements on the top. The background transitions from light gray near the surface to a darker gray toward the top of the image.
