Dark milky jadeite, translucent with inclusions dirty green. Head and stem carved in full relief. 19th century, China. Belt buckle. Height 3.1 cm; width 11.6 cm; depth 2.3 cm., A pale, smooth carved object resembling an elongated creature rests on a light surface; the carving is off-white to creamy with subtle translucent areas and a slightly glossy finish, featuring rounded forms including a bulbous head, curved body with scalloped ridges along its back, and a curled tail with a hole near its tip; the piece casts a soft gray shadow beneath and to one side, and the background transitions from pale gray near the surface to darker gray toward the top.
