Censer on base; creator, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911; 18th century. Bronze ceremonial censer with lion fo handles and iconography; wooden carved quadrangular base. Function: ritual vessel. Censer dimensions: H 2.2 cm, W 12.3 cm, L 9.7 cm. Base dimensions: H 1.8 cm, W 12.2 cm, L 9.6 cm., A square metallic object with a worn gold and brown surface sits centered against a pale gray background, showing a few areas of flaked lighter gold. The object has rounded corner feet that are a brighter gold tone and two short horizontal protruding handles on opposite sides that are darker bronze. The surface shows a few irregular patches of lighter and darker discoloration, and the object casts a subtle reflection on a glossy surface below. The visible colors are gold, brown, bronze, darker grayish bronze, and pale gray.
