Censer with a cover on a base, Qing style, Chinese, 18th century. Bronze ceremonial vessel censer with high foot, openwork cover and handles; cover with removable knob. Decoration: dragons and hôô phoenix birds on the cover; various animals tigers, fish, birds and sea waves, clouds, dragon with a pearl, meander and geometric patterns on the body. Height 22.0 cm; width 21.0 cm; depth 17.7 cm., An ornate metal vessel stands against a neutral gray background, showing a combination of dark metallic and bright gold tones. The vessel has a rounded body on a tiered base with decorative fluted and banded details in dark metal with gold highlights. The upper section features an openwork lid with intricate pierced patterns and applied sculptural elements in gold, including leafy and animal-like forms. Gold ornamentation also appears on the body as raised figures and decorative motifs contrasting with the darker metal surface. A finial on top is similarly detailed with openwork and gold accents. The object casts a subtle reflection beneath it on the reflective surface.
