Dragons iconography, handles, meander ornament, ceremonial/ritual vessel; tigers, sea waves, birds, dragon with a pearl, fish, clouds, phoenixes, geometric patterns. Censer with a high foot. Openwork cover and handles. Decoration: dragons and hôô birds on the cover; various animals on the belly. Cover with removable knob. 18th century, China. Vessel, censer. Height 22.0 cm, width 21.0 cm, depth 17.7 cm., An ornate metal vessel with a rounded body and domed, pierced lid sits on a tiered circular base; the vessel shows a mix of dark metallic and bright gold tones, with gold decorative figures and motifs in relief around the body and lid, gold ring handles at the sides, and sculpted gold elements atop the lid including a small finial; the base has carved bands and gold-accented scalloped feet, and the whole object is reflected faintly on a glossy surface beneath it against a pale gray background.
