Decoration: dragons and hôô phoenix birds on the cover; various animals tigers, birds, fish, phoenixes on the belly; dragon with a pearl, sea waves, clouds, geometric patterns, meander ornament. Cover with removable knob. 18th century, China. Dimensions: height 22.0 cm, width 21.0 cm, depth 17.7 cm., An ornate metal vessel sits on a rounded pedestal base, showing a mix of brown, bronze, and gold tones. The upper portion has a perforated domed lid with decorative cutouts and sculpted elements, including a finial at the top. A group of sculpted motifs, some raised and gilded, decorate the lid and shoulder, with curving, organic shapes and small animal-like forms. The body of the vessel displays a band of patterned engraving below the perforated section and a lower area with textured relief scenes and gilded decorative figures. Two ring handles protrude from the sides, attached to sculpted mounts with gilded highlights. The pedestal base features carved fluting and geometric bands, with touches of gold on the feet, and the whole object casts a faint reflection on the smooth gray surface beneath it.
