Crossguard tsuba, Shôami attributed and Migaki attributed; unsigned. 18th century Edo period, 1603–1868, Japan. Tsuba of the kuruma tsuba type, of the Buddhist Law Circle, oval seppa dai; on both sides decoration of irregular brass inlaid spots and on the edge two stripes, the outer filled with fine dots. Materials: metal with brass inlay. Function: sword crossguard for katana. Diameter 8.5 cm; thickness 0.5 cm., A round metal object with a weathered, rough surface and a decorative openwork design, showing a central raised area and radial segments separated by cutouts; the metal shows dark brown and rusty tones with patches of dull gold on raised decorative elements, and the background is a smooth light gray.
