Crossguard tsuba, Shôami, / school and Migaki, attribution uncertain; unsigned. Katana crossguard tsuba of the kuruma tsuba type, of the Buddhist Law Circle; oval seppa dai. Both sides decorated with irregular brass inlaid spots; edge with two stripes, the outer stripe filled with fine dots. 18th century Edo period, 1603–1868, Japan. Tsuba; diameter 8.5 cm, thickness 0.5 cm., A circular metal object with a central elongated opening and two smaller rounded openings on either side, featuring a radial openwork design of spokes and segmented panels; the surface shows a combination of dark brown rusted metal and bright golden inlaid highlights, with textured dotted and scalloped decorative borders around the rim; overall the object appears flat and ornamental with alternating solid and open sections forming a symmetrical pattern.
